There’s Something to Be Said for Luxury Items

I’m a very casual kind of woman: informal in communication, wearing casual clothes, and not spending money on fancy items. And yet in the past I loved to wear fabrics with a more luxurious feel, such as satin, chenille, and velvet. I’m thinking I should go back to those good habits. It’s not even that expensive. And the feel of satin nightdress, for instance, is wonderful. Also sleeping on a pillow with a satin pillowcase. Okay, satin sheets may be a little too much, but there’s certainly something to be said for these kinds of fabric and other, similar, luxury items.

So, I’m thinking, now that we’re approaching Christmas, maybe some of us who feel so inclined should treat ourselves to more luxury.

You can probably imagine the pleasure of reading a book and enjoying a cup of tea while sitting in an armchair with this chenille blanket on your legs. I sit too much on my butt myself, but I can definitely see myself watching TV on a couch snuggled in this throw. I haven’t seen any such blankets in stores, so I’ll order myself one from Amazon as well.

Another item I will probably order is the cowl-neck sweater shown below. I love cowl-neck tops, and the fabric and color in this one are wonderful!

What I’m having trouble finding is a velvet dress. But those are costly, anyway. Still, I’d love to find one for the holidays! Adrianna Papell seems to have some nice designs, and not just for velvet (affiliate link).

Enjoy this Christmas season!

Oh, and since I design Christmas cards (among other things), here’s a recent luxury design with gold foil.
