Some Great Cameras, Perfumes from Le Monde Gourmande, and Other Quality Bargain Gifts for Mother’s Day

What do women who are mothers want for Mother’s Day? Well, creative gifts from their kids and practical things aside, they probably want shoes, perfume, and jewelry. Some of them also want books and a great Kindle. Others want a well-made photography and vlogging camera and a mini photo printer. But still others want unique gifts. Here are Mother’s Day presents for everyone.

I’ll start with the latest model of the Kindle Paperwhite. This 11th Generation Kindle Paperwhite (2021 release) comes with 16 GB storage, a larger display (6.8”), adjustable nice orange-tinted warm light, more battery life, and 20% faster page turns. What’s not to love? I hope to buy one soon for myself too.

I don’t do videos with my recipes, but many stay-at-home moms would love to have a vlog camera to play with while they spend time with their children and also maybe to showcase some of their recipes or whatever else they’re good at. I mention recipes because I am deeply grateful to many of the moms who have turned to cooking as a job and who share their recipes on custom-built sites. With the right technology, it doesn’t even have to be that hard.

Also, some other moms have turned to yoga and other forms of exercise. I love the inspiration I get from them too. And all a mom needs to get creative that way is a suitable camera, such as the compact Canon PowerShot SX610 HS camera, with 20.2MP, 18X optical zoom, and 1080P Full HD video. I have an older version of this camera and it’s a good one, and I think that of all the Canon PowerShot models this offers the best buck for the money.

Don’t waste your time with no-name cameras. I have (on Amazon), only to conclude from reviews that they’re not worth it. And don’t fall for 4K video either. Those files are huge, and you don’t really need 4K for everyday purposes. And if you travel and take lots of video, again you may be happy with Full HD only. I am. Okay, if you are into professional video, and are thinking of making professional movies with your camera, then yes, you’ll want 4K video, but then you’ll need a dedicated video camcorder anyway. Or you could get a semi-professional or professional Canon DSLR camera, such as the mirrorless R50 (affiliate link, opens in a new tab), which comes in a more compact body than traditional DSLR cameras.

I also like this rugged waterproof and shockproof (and dustproof) photography and vlogging camera from Kodak, Kodak PIXPRO WPZ2, with 16MP, 4X optical zoom with digital image stabilization, and 1080P Full HD video, which would appeal to many people who like to go camping, for instance, but also to hikers and other travelers. I think it’s a steal at $149 (reduced 17% at the time of my writing this). Great camera for small kids too! Just note that, according to reviewers, it comes with a regular SD card when in fact it needs a micro SD card.

Of course, many people these days are not tempted by regular cameras anymore. Some phones are, indeed, very good, but for people who really love photography, even cheaper cameras with manual settings can be priceless.

I also love the fun that a Canon Ivy 2 Mini Photo Printer can bring with its photos printed on peel & stick photo paper. I love sticking things to objects myself: some of my notebooks are personalized with a collage of stickers. Okay, with the advent of fridge magnets I don’t use stickers on the fridge anymore, but these photos would, indeed, be priceless in a modern scrapbook. Did I mention I love collages? I’m not a mom but I imagine many moms would love this gift!

Slide sandals are also very trendy and so practical for women who run outside after their children in a split second or go out to have coffee at a cafe near their homes fifteen minutes after waking up. I looked at many slip-on one-band slide sandals on Amazon, and this pair from Michael Kors seem to be very appreciated by reviewers. They’re stylish and also very comfortable and well-made, and they come in black, brown, vanilla, and rose gold. And they’re only $41.25 at the time of this post (reduced 25%).

I’ve also discovered today the perfume store Le Monde Gourmand. With one link you get to read about various perfumes based on foodstuffs such as vanilla, honey, clementine, chia spices, coconut milk, lemon, etc. But these fragrances are complex, with added floral and fruity notes and other scents. The crème vanille also has notes of creamy apricot, jasmine, brown sugar, and amber. I’m not sure if amber is liquid amber or what but these perfumes sound fabulous when you read about them, and reviewers are raving about most of them.

Note that these perfumes come in small bottles (1 fl oz), but, as they say, great things come in small packages—or however that saying goes 🙂 Oh, I wanted to say good things instead great. Well, then, great things come in even smaller packages. Some of my best perfumes were in small bottles because the larger bottles felt too expensive, but then over time I got to sample many different perfumes that way. They say we change skins over a lifetime and become different persons. I definitely changed into a person that likes a lot of creative variety in the world of small pleasures.
