Gorgeous Broad Spectrum, Dry Touch Sunscreen Lotions

I personally have been using several Vichy and La Roche-Posay products but if you live in the US you have other great options as well.

I recommend using the following Neutrogena lotion for your face and the Sun Bum spray for your body.

Again, whatever lotion you choose, remember that you’re playing with your future health and contributing to or preventing future wrinkles. Broad-spectrum SPF lotions such as these two have high UVA protection, which is what you need to prevent skin aging. And they’re high in UVB protection, which helps prevent skin cancers. Remember to apply often, though!

The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer dry-touch SPF 45 lotion offers just that, an SPF lotion that doesn’t feel greasy or looks oily or runs into your eyes, protects you for 80 minutes in the sun, including in the water, and it comes in a travel-size twin pack. It’s PABA-free and noncomedogenic (it doesn’t clog skin pores).

The Sun Bum spray, SPF 50, is octinoxate & oxybenzone free, which makes it friendly to coral reefs. It’s a broad-spectrum sunscreen, just like the Neutrogena lotion, and reviewers on Amazon are raving about it! It’s smooth on the skin and has a pleasant, not-to-strong smell. This one, too, is noncomedogenic, and needs to be reapplied after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.

As for SPF 50 vs SPF 45, the difference in the percentage of UVB rays is not that great. It’s actually 97% for SPF 30 and only one percent higher for UVB 50. (And SPF 70 offers 98.5% protection.) That said, SPF 30 is much better than SPF 15. The latter blocks only 93% of UVB rays.

Both these sunscreen lotions are dermatologist tested.
