Some of Oprah’s Favorite Things for This Christmas

I don’t remember seeing this in previous years, even though this is not new, but this year a smiling Oprah dressed in purple presents on Amazon “Oprah’s Favorite Things.” As it involves many products from small businesses and women- and Black-owned enterprises, I had to see what she showcases.

You may have seen some of these “favorite things” of Oprah’s but in case you didn’t, here are some that made an impression on me. (Bear with me, they’re not that many because Oprah’s list is relatively short.)

First of all, I found the ZuZoo kids’ high-top shoes quite sweet and funny. Different colors show different animals. (The brand is also involved with educational STEM activities.) Here’s the elephant shoe. The shoes have both laces and a side zipper.

Oprah also picked her own book, written with Arthur C. Brooks, titled Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier (affiliate link), and a series of Phaidon art books for kids about big feelings. The one on happiness includes 35 artworks paired with short captions—both images and text invite discussions with a parent. This book seems aimed at kids 4 or 5 years old, but older kids would benefit from it too.

Then there’s this waterproof sun hat with breathable mesh and two drawstrings, including one under the chin. Perfect for hiking in windy weather or enjoying a stroll on the beach in both sun and wind.

I also found a Corkcicle triple-insulated stainless steel travel mug with a ceramic-coated straw and a lid with a spill-proof seal. It has easy-grip flat sides that keep your drinks cold for 12 hours and hot for 5 hours and it fits nicely in your car cupholder. And it comes with a silicone bottom so it doesn’t slide on various surfaces. BPA free. Fitted with a silicone straw tab that allows the straw to move easily in various directions. Great for workouts!

It comes in many colors and designs. Holds 24 oz.

Here it is. I know just the person who will get this as a Christmas gift.

I also found a crossbody water bottle carrier bag that comes in a trendy quilted puffer bag design. It has two large double-zippered pockets. Available in lots of different colors.

It’s not a very special item since there are plenty of water bottle bags on the market but I really like the feeling of coziness it exudes. And it does have room for everything you may need on the trail.

And if you have kids, you may want to see this item too. I know I got very excited about it myself. It’s not cheap but it looks wonderful and reviewers say it’s delicious as well, as are all items from Zola Bakes.

I know many mothers prefer to make holiday cookies together with their children but sometimes it’s fun to try something new. And then there’s also the question of Christmas gift baskets and gift treats. I figure rather than buying an already-packed gift basket, it’s sometimes better to just buy individual items and send them as a more individualized Christmas gift.
