Temperatures have come down and all I want now is to snuggle in a soft large blanket overcoat when I’m out and about enjoying things in the city.
I don’t know if it’s age or what, but for a while now I have wanted looser clothes, such as large dresses, and now these oversized blanket hoodies—various versions of the Australian brand Oodies. Aussies do seem to go for comfort: first UGG boots and now this.
But I think much of the consumer world is ready for more comfort too. We’ve been living through some rough, demanding times, and clothes can and do provide comfort. I’m not big on buying a whole lot of clothes, but I do like design in general, and a soft, cozy oversized blanket hoodie is something I would take on a trip to the beach in the fall or warm winter.

As these wearable blanket hoodies have a large appeal for teenagers, brands have come up with glow-in-the-dark patterns, which are a lot of fun. Here are two of my favorites. I know many young people would love one such oversized sherpa fleece sweatshirts to lounge in at Christmas 🙂 My twelve-year-old niece is one of them—and she’s only twelve! Her blanket hoodie will probably reach down to her ankles 🙂
