I was at a mall yesterday and entered there the Carturesti Bookstore, one of my favorites. Their store there is large and inviting, appealing to me the way great architecture does. A bookstore with room to roam is truly something these days.
While I was there, I was inspired to take some photos and then last night realized that I could use those to create a new design on Zazzle. Here it is, on mugs, T-shirts, keychains, totes, postcards, and more. I also altered my original design to include a personalized name on mugs and keychains. Enjoy!
I’ve even created a paper cup, to be used at bookstores that also serve coffee or other drinks, or at parties at a writer’s or book lover’s house!

Book lovers will well appreciate these gifts, and the fact that you can’t really tell the titles of the novels (they’re all novels/fiction) from the composite image means these mugs will be well-suited to a lot of readers! Well, you can, in fact, make out the titles of some of them, and you can also clearly read the name Stephen King on several spines. I admit I haven’t read anything by Stephen King except for some passages from his book on writing, but I do plan to read some of his novels.
I think the colorful spines and the black (with white, in some cases) on the spines of classic novels do create an appealing design! I’m quite happy that I took enough photos yesterday, because I didn’t want to repeat any shelves in this composite image. I do hope you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂
I wish I had thought of creating these mugs sooner, so as to have a gift for my niece, who turns 12 this month and is quite a reader. I’ve often come up with ideas when thinking of coming-up gifts for her and other people. They say that if you want to read a book that’s not been written, you should write it yourself. I’d add that if you want to give someone a gift that exists in your imagination, you should create it.
Many of my designs are, in fact, gifts to various people, some of whom I’ve met, and some of whom I haven’t but whom I have imagined in part and reached out to.
Here’s a mug without a personalized name that would work well in a bookstore, for instance, or in a gift shop that caters to writers, librarians, and various other readers. Do note that the image is actually crisper on the mug than in the close-up photo.

I’ve also created T-shirts for these bookworms who love to roam the aisles—and open spaces punctuated by tables stacked with books—in bookstores.

I also love postcards, even though I make next to nothing with them, but I’ve been a postcard and art card collector for a long time, and I can relate to others who share this little hobby.

Finally, a tote—with a personalized name. I’m thinking this would make a great flirting prop—or a general conversation starter.
